Kadar Orthodontics was looking for a new unique design for their office and chose Ignarri Lummis Architects to provide them with an exceptional quality of work. The project consisted of a new ground up Orthodontics office on a 6.49 acres site that is wooded, steeply graded and has a stream and other areas of wetland and natural features. The main floor of the building includes an Entry Vestibule, Reception, Waiting Area (with clerestory fireplace lounge), Business Offices, Staff Entry and Work Areas, Exam Rooms and Support Areas, Toilet and Janitorial facilities as well as a Stair and Elevator. The basement floor includes a large Conference Room with Kitchen, Toilet Facilities, Storage and Mechanical Spaces. In order to give our client the log cabin design they envisioned, the selecting of materials for this project took time and consideration. Our client wanted a real wood exterior and after discussing the maintenance options of real wood, they decided fake wood would be the best option. This approach still gave the woodsy feel, but with less maintenance for the client. The façade treatment became that of an authentic log cabin with a stone base. In the exam room where patients are treated, we designed large windows facing their seats so they are able to have a great view of the outdoors, which is what Kadar was envisioning for their patients. We were able to make this project work for Kadar Orthodontics and meet their vision for a new design, while also creating an efficient office.
